Watch Catherine Wright in BSL talking about Access Bedford
Access Bedford were awarded the Community Enterprise Award in the Bedfordshire Local Heroes Awards 2017 at a glitzy ceremony on Thurs 6 July 2017 at Bedford Blues Rugby Club organised by The Bedfordshire on Sunday newspaper.
Catherine Wright, chair of Access Bedford said “I’m really proud that we won this award for all our hard work to improve services for our Deaf Community. This award is really for them too, for all their support in helping Access Bedford over the years. We are a strong community and part of Bedford so it’s great to see more and more events, more opportunities and improved services for the Deaf locally”.
The Local Heroes Awards were judged by a panel from local businesses and services with a number of corporate and trust sponsors for the event. Nominations were received by members of the public to recognise ordinary people doing extraordinary things in our communities.
We are so proud to have won this for our work campaigning for better access, for volunteering to improve services and provide more opportunities for and with the deaf community locally.
