BSL Interpreter support for Doctor appointments

We are thrilled to announce that NHS England have agreed to fund interpreting support in Bedfordshire for Primary Care health appointments.  You can read the news story from the Beds on Sunday here .
If you are Deaf and are having problems getting an interpreter for your appointment with your GP, print off this information and show it at reception
 
Access Bedford, Healthwatch Bedford Borough and The Deaf and Hearing Impairment Team at Bedford Borough Council have been working very hard with NHS England to clarify the booking and payment process for both British Sign Language Interpreters and Spoken Language interpreters for GP services. 
 
Please see below, which should be shared with the Deaf community and Primary Care services alike.
 
NHS England will pay for all British Sign Language and spoken language interpreting services (in Bedfordshire) required for GP  appointments providing they are booked through either Milton Keynes Language Service or Language Line. Contact details below.
